![]() | BLACK BOI Black Boi, born and raised in Atlanta, GA, is surely becoming a name to watch for. When asked, why he chose the name Black Boi he simply stated, “I do it for ya’ll”. With “Life After Trap”, his first mixtape, gaining him exposure throughout the South, his next project, “24 Bars”, has the streets in a frenzy. Black Boi describes “24 Bars” as “…all bars. No hooks.” In an interview, he tells the people “It’s time I did something different for hip-hop. People like to say that rappers from the south lack vocabulary and I’m definitely about to change that interpretation. See my first project for me was mainly about catching the audience with crazy hooks and so they would never forget my name, I started spelling it in the beginning of songs. But this time around, since I got listeners… here comes the BARS. This time out I’m going to kill the streets with “24 Bars”. This project is going to be epic and something I know will definitely start the bidding war between labels.” As for now he continues to represent Good N Gutta Ent, an indie label created a few years back by him and other label mates. Black Boi also recently established his own promotion team Promote Or Die Promotions. They are looking to do big things in the near future with this new venture. In a recent interview, he speaks on Promote Or Die and the goal he has in mind for it. “Well it all derived from promoting my music everyday to the fullest. I would flood timelines on social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter, all day and night. Then I began to realize that I was not the only artist seeking the same goal. I figured why don’t we as indie artists support each other and help each other gain exposure. I knew how hard it was for me to get where I am right now and I could just imagine what another artist were going through just trying to be heard. And there it was Promote Or Die; indie artists supporting indie artists. The idea has grown into more than I thought it could be originally. I am currently working on “Promote Or Die The Mag”, which will provide more assistance and give more artists a chance to be heard. Everyday from here on I am “Promote Or Die”. He’s all business when it comes to his music but he has a lot of fun with it too. His music will make you smile and it will make you think. Whiteout is not just another rap artist. He is a creative, gifted and intelligent crafter of words and a beat to go with them. Listen to what Whiteout has for you and you will be able visualize what he is presenting. He has found the secret to making pictures with words. He tells about life on the streets but goes well beyond this theme. His insight into life’s pleasures and problems and everything in between is something you will relate to. This is a young man whose approach to his music reflects his outlook on so very many topics. Relationships, feelings, thoughts, ideas, plans, memories, concerns, apprehensions – it’s all there to provoke you, excite you, entertain you and some of it might even confuse you. Confuse you not because of its complexity but confuse you because we all face situations when we don’t know where to turn, what to do, even what to think. You’re not alone in Whiteout’s world. Whiteout is not far beyond voting age but he has devoted over half of his life not just to making music but to putting it out there where his contemporaries and other people can enjoy it. He grew up surrounded by classic rock then progressed to where rap music started gaining a hold on him but putting labels on what he does is not a high priority for Whiteout. He is what he is, call what he has for you whatever you want. Whiteout is Nick Menn, the son of Frank and Kristy Menn of Fairview Heights, Illinois which is just 10 minutes from downtown St. Louis across the Mississippi River. He was born on December 11, 1988 and has a brother named Matt. A graduate of Grant Middle School and Belleville East High School, Nick “Whiteout” Menn is one for whom it may be said that music is his passion but anyone feeling this way will soon realize characterizing him that way is a major understatement. | https://www.reverbnation.com/whiteoutdoorway http://doorway618.com/ http://www.facebook.com/nick.menn http://twitter.com/whiteoutdoorway |
